Subject: Animated marker blinking in Firefox
Hello,
Does anyone know by chance why a marker I am animating on a map is
blinking in Firefox (and possible other browsers) and not in IE?
My animation does show the marker in the new position then immediately
removes the marker from the old position.
Here is the map: http://www.n2yo.com
Is there a known issue with Mozilla or I am doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Chip

Hi

It's probably just the way the browser redraws things.  Since your
marker is always at the center of the screen, and if the user moves the
map around then you re-center on the marker, I'd suggest the following.

- get rid of the marker, use a absolutely positioned graphic on top of
the map.
- disable map movement.

This is great, thanks! I too was having this problem. I thought it was
the HTML I was passing to the infowindow, but it was even happening
when I was using Mike Williams' example code!

'Fixed'. Hurrah.

       MGeoRSS: Google Maps API Extension for GeoRSS

I've reworked some code for parsing GeoRSS in Google Maps into a proper
extension .. MGeoRSS [http://brainoff.com/gmaps/mgeorss.html]

This can be quite useful for quickly building maps, like Node.London
[http://nodel.org/seednodes.php?map=1], and promotes an interoperable
geospatial web based on a common data format.

With GeoRSS standardization [http://georss.org] in the works, its
important to get the big map players on board to support.
* How bout it Google -- are you ready to step up and promote GeoRSS
directly in your API? *

I would give an indication, such as a mouse change to indicate that
tracks are clickable.

Yeah, I was thinking about that.  I just added a mouseover underline
and a pointy finger cursor; I also assigned a "move" cursor to the
whole draggable legend.

Subject: Triggering a HTMLWindow to display from off the map
Having a few problems getting a HTMLWindow on a marker to display from
a function that is not on the map. Function is:

function show_marker(lng, lat)

{

    for (var i =0; i<map.overlays.length; i++)

        {

            if (lng == map.overlays[i].point.x && lat ==
map.overlays[i].point.y)

                {

                    GEvent.trigger(map.overlays[i], 'click');

                }

          }

}

It matches long and lat but fails on the GEvent trigger.

Thanks in advance for any help

Gerard
